Asbestos Supervisor courses
To do asbestos abatement in Wisconsin, you can either be trained as an Asbestos Worker, or an Asbestos Supervisor.
Asbestos Workers & Supervisors can work on any type of asbestos, and any amount of asbestos.
Asbestos Workers get 4 days of training, Asbestos Supervisors get 5 days of training. Most people in Wisconsin take the 5 day training class - here is why: You must ALWAYS have an Asbestos Supervisor on site any time workers are in the "Regulated Work Area". Realistically, this means you need more than one Asbestos Supervisor.
There are several reasons why almost everyone in Wisconsin gets Asbestos Supervisor training:
1) An Asbestos Supervisor can do a job by themself - an Asbestos Worker cannot. A licensed Asbestos Supervisor must be on site 100% of the time a worker is in the work area.
2) This is actually a big one - Supervisors will have 50-60 different dates to choose from to take the annual refresher class you need. Workers, have only about 10 classes a year to choose from.
3) If someone takes the 4-day worker class, and later wants to become a Supervisor, they have to start over and take the entire 5-day Supervisor class.
There is also Asbestos Operations & Maintenance training, however, that is for workers such as electricians and plumbers who encounter less than 3 Square Feet, or 3 Lineal feet of asbestos.
We offer the Asbestos Supervisor Initial class every month. We offer the Asbestos Supervisor Refresher class about 25 times per year. See the links below for a schedule:
