What are the Certfication Requirements for a Supervisor?

To become a Lead Abatement Supervisor in Wisconsin, there is a training requirement, an application, fee an experience requiremnet and a state administered test.

A Supervisor must take this Lead Abatement Supervisor Initial Course AFTER taking the Lead-Safe Renovator course and the Lead Abatement Worker course. After passing the test for this course, the prospective supervisor must apply to the Wisconsin DHS. This can be accomplished by either completing a paper application and mailing in the application and fees; or going online, completing the online application and pay via credit card. Either way, you will be notified within 28 days of your acceptance or denial of the initial application. To be approved, you must have at least either:

One year of experience as a certified lead worker or lead abatement supervisor;

OR

Two years of experience in a related field, such as lead, asbestos, or enviornmental remediation work, building maintenance or construction

This experience can be paid or unpaid

If approved, you will be assigned a certification test location and date. You will then need to pass the state's 100 question test with as core of 70 or higher. The tests are administer edin Milwaukee and Madison every month, plus they also rotate through Eau Claire and Green Bay. After completing all of those requiremnets, you will be issued a blue certification card with your photo, DHS number, recertification date and training date.
